You have a car that you need to sell, but how can you make it more attractive? You can’t just put your vehicle on sale in the state that it’s in, no matter how well you’ve taken care of it. You have to give it a little spruce and make it appealing to a buyer, so it needs to look as good as possible. Here are five tips for preparing your car for sale.
Give it a good scrub
First, you have to make sure that your car is looking in top shape on the inside. The interior must be spotless and smell nice, so give it a good cleaning before putting it on the market. You wouldn’t believe how dirty your interior can really get, but years of use can do that. Don’t just spot clean – this occasion calls for a deep clean and a refresher. If your car smells bad, forget it; who wants a smelly vehicle?
Make the exterior spotless
A clean car and a fresh coat of paint makes an exceptional first impression, but if the paint is not something you can afford right now, at least take care of cleaning and polishing the exterior. In addition, you can spruce up some of the details or do minor repairs that improve the overall appearance of the car. First impressions are important and so are looks!
Clean the engine
Everyone who comes to see the car will definitely poke around under the hood. They’ll want to take a look at the engine, so you’ll need to give it a good cleaning. A dirty, clogged engine is a sign of a car that has not been taken care of, and that is not the impression you want to leave. Help increase your chances of selling by making the engine squeaky clean.
Make minor reparations and replacements
If the car has broken parts, repair them before you try to sell, because that is going to increase the number of buyers. Think about it – who wants to buy a car that is already broken? And more importantly, who’s going to be willing to pay money for that? No one, that’s who. However, this is a double-edged sword: don’t make major replacements, because that will give the impression that something was or still is very wrong with this car. A new engine makes you think of a car that was really worn down or which has been in an accident.
Inflate the tyres
Make sure that the tyres are properly inflated and pressurised. Not only will this give the car a whole new look, but it will also help you out when it comes to test drives. Do you want your potential buyer to have a good experience? Then offer it to them by making sure the car is running smoothly. Alternatively, the buyer is going to get all shaken while driving and that is not conducive to making a sale.
